AC Milan make Dybala contact

AC Milan have made contact with the representatives of Paulo Dybala over the possibility of a free transfer after his contract with Juventus expires at the end of the month, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentinian forward has made a total of 293 appearances for Juventus over seven years, scoring 115 goals and producing 48 assists in all competitions. His departure upon contract expiration this summer has been confirmed, and there has been plenty of interest in his services.

Inter Milan are believed to be leading the race, but the negotiations over the personal terms have reportedly slowed down for the time being, and just as they beat Inter to the Scudetto in 2021/22, Milan are looking to beat their city rivals for Dybala too. The 28-year-old is apparently op…

Aguero and Fati get Koeman call for Barcelona´s huge Valencia clash

Sergio Aguero and Ansu Fati have been included in Barcelona s 23-man squad for Sunday s crucial LaLiga clash with Valencia at Camp Nou.

Manchester City great Aguero has yet to feature in a competitive game for Barca since joining at the end of May, due to a troublesome calf issue.

Fati is being eased back into the first team after a long-term knee injury absence, with the teenage forward having featured three times as a substitute since making a return from a near year-long lay-off.

Both players are in contention to play a part against Valencia as Barca attempt to kickstart their LaLiga campaign on the back of a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid two weeks ago.

Aguero s inclusion and the return of Fati will be considered a major boost for coach Ronald Koeman, wh…

Unlikely hero De Jong highlights Solskjaer´s trust issues as Bono gives Sevilla the edge

In a lot of ways, there was not much more Manchester United could have done to reach the Europa League final on Sunday, but they nonetheless succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to the competition s almost perennial winners, Sevilla.

United played a lot of good football and were the greater threat in attack – but while they were routinely thwarted in the Sevilla penalty area, they were their own worst enemy at the other end and in the dugout.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s men follow their Manchester rivals City out of Europe 24 hours later and they will have a similar feeling of regret despite a great start in Cologne.

In fact, Solskjaer s selections made perfect sense. The choice of Fred in midfield instead of Nemanja Matic, while initially surprising, was by no means without m…

Hughes bemoans lack of opportunities for British managers at top clubs

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes believes British managers are getting looked over for jobs at the big clubs in England.

Hughes was sacked after one season at Manchester City in 2008-09, and has since managed Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, before taking over at Stoke in 2013.

None of the top-six clubs in the Premier League table have British managers, with 12 out of the 20 clubs in the league employing a foreign manager.

Hughes said it has become increasingly harder to win trophies as a British manager.

There s a debate around British managers and the opportunities they have, he said.

If you look over the years, the top jobs in this country haven t really become available.

At Man United, Sir Alex [Ferguson] was there for a long time…

De Gea demands Man Utd show progress as he dreads another player of the season award

David de Gea has taken pride in winning individual trophies at Manchester United but hopes he never collects another personal accolade because it will mean the Red Devils have failed again.

Jose Mourinho became increasingly frustrated during his time at Old Trafford as goalkeeper De Gea won the Player of the Year award for United, amounting to failure from his outfield stars in the Portuguese s eyes.

The Spain international may have felt hard done by to not win another of those awards last season, with Cristiano Ronaldo pipping him to the honour after scoring 24 goals across all competitions.

De Gea made 128 saves in the 2021-22 Premier League, the third most in the English top flight, as United limped to a sixth-place finish and their lowest points tally in …

Guardiola: Nothing compares to Cruyff´s football legacy

Pep Guardiola believes Johan Cruyff s legacy at Barcelona and across the wider football world is incomparable.

Former Ajax, Barca and Netherlands great Cruyff died on Thursday at the age of 68, following a battle with lung cancer.

Viewed by many as the finest European player of all time, Cruyff went on to coach Barcelona to a previously unprecedented level of success between 1988 and 1996.

The club won four consecutive Liga titles between 1990-91 and 1993-94, along with a maiden European Cup, while establishing a footballing identity retained to this day at Camp Nou.

Guardiola played under Cruyff for the final six years of his tenure and acknowledged the debt he owes to the Dutchman, having led Barcelona to 14 major honours between 2008-09 and 2011-12.

Phillips´ loyalty to Leeds meant there was ´never any chance´ of Man Utd move

Kalvin Phillips says there was never any chance he would sign for Manchester United out of loyalty to his former club Leeds United.

The England midfielder instead joined the Red Devils rivals Manchester City earlier this month in a deal reportedly worth £42million.

Phillips was a man in demand, with United and City s interest said to have been piqued by his impressive performances in England s run to the final of Euro 2020 last year.

But the cross-Pennine rivalry between Leeds and the red side of Manchester meant a switch to Old Trafford was never an option for Phillips.

No, there was never any chance of me going there. You know my loyalty to Leeds, my family as well, they re all Leeds fans, Phillips said in quotes reported by several British newspaper…
