Liverpool F.C. have announced Jordon Ibe has put pen to paper on a new, long-term contract with the club.
Ibe, who joined the Reds academy from Wycombe Wanderers in 2011, broke into Brendan Rodgers first-team squad this season, making 11 English Premier League matches for the Merseysiders.
The England youth international, 19, will likely play a bigger role for Liverpool in 2015/16, especially if Raheem Sterling priced at to be a Manchester City player on 3 September 2015 ends up leaving Anfield this summer.
Shortly after committing his future to Anfield, Ibe told Liverpoolfc.com: I m over the moon. It s something I ve been looking forward to. I ve spoken to the gaffer and I m happy it s over and done with. Now I just want to kick on into next season, as well as the last game of this one.
Liverpool are a great club and I like the philosophy here. I m enjoying it I ve just been brought into the first team and I ve enjoyed the games I ve played in. Hopefully I can just keep doing well at the club.
I have been given the chance to play quite a few games and I ve enjoyed it. As I said, I just want to take that into pre-season and then next season, continuing with how it s been since I ve been back here.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers added: He has thoroughly deserved it.
He is a young kid that has got a lot of potential; he still has a lot of work to do to become that consistent performer at the top level, but there s no doubting his potential and he has really grown and developed over the course of the last season.
Gomes signs three-year deal
Watford F.C. goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has signed a new three-year contract at Vicarage Road after helping the Hornets win promotion to the English Premier League.
The former Tottenham Hotspur shot-topper, 34, finished second in the club s Player of the Year vote (behind Troy Deeney) after keeping 15 clean sheets in 44 games in 2014/15.
I am familiar with the club and everyone here, Gomes said. Some people were not sure what I was going to do here but when you have the respect of the people and the fans it s great.
That s why I want to stay here for a long time. When you feel good you want to continue and I feel good.
Gomes, who is now contracted to Vicarage Road until the summer of 2018, has made over 100 appearances in the Premier League.
