Manchester United’s summer spending may be limited, warns Ed Woodward

Ed Woodward has warned it may not be “business as usual” for Manchester United in the next transfer window, the executive vice-chairman saying that spending hundreds of millions of pounds on a player could ignore the financial impact of coronavirus.

Covid-19 has caused the suspension of football since early March and there is uncertainty over when it will return. Woodward pointed to this when assessing the level of finance Ole Gunnar Solskjær may have to strengthen his squad.

Mauritius 0 Ghana 2: Ayew, Atsu on target as Black Stars reach Gabon 2017

Ghana booked their place at next year s Africa Cup of Nations thanks to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Mauritius on Sunday.

Avram Grant s side had hammered their opponents 7-1 in the reverse fixture a year ago, but found their hosts in much less accommodating mood in Mapou.

Ghana had been 4-0 up inside half an hour the last time these two met, but it took the Black Stars 70 minutes to break the deadlock in this one.

And it was the captain, Andre Ayew, who made the breakthrough by controlling Baba Rahman s cross and firing home.

The lead was doubled two minutes later as Christian Atsu from another Rahman assist put the visitors into a commanding position.

It was an advantage the four-time champions never looked like relinquishing as they sealed top…

Thiago Silva to rejoin Fluminense when Chelsea contract expires

Thiago Silva will return to his boyhood club Fluminense when he leaves Chelsea at the end of the season, the Blues have announced.

Silva joined Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and has made 152 appearances for the club, helping them win the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup.

The 39-year-old confirmed last month that he would leave upon the expiration of his contract in June, pledging to return in another role when his playing days are over.

However, that will not be for some time as the centre-back has agreed a two-year contract with Fluminense, who he first joined as a 14-year-old in 1998.

Initially finding opportunities hard to come by with the Rio de Janeiro giants, he had spells with Pedrabranca, Juventude and Dynamo Moscow befor…

Serie A 2019-20: Why Inter and Conte can capitalise on Juve´s Ronaldo problem

Maurizio Sarri s start to life as Juventus boss was hardly going swimmingly before he was left tackling a bout of pneumonia this week.

After a frankly disorientating year at Chelsea, which amounted to speculation over his future and criticism of his fabled playing style being stitched together by the momentary distraction of bi-weekly football matches, Sarri won the Europa League, finished third in the Premier League and landed the Juve job. It felt like the football equivalent of getting out of jail and building a house on Park Lane in the same Monopoly move.

Board room and dressing room at Stamford Bridge never felt in harmony, but it no longer mattered. The former Napoli boss would now helm the slick and formidable football empire he came closer than many to toppling.…

Ballon d´Or 2017: Why Ronaldo, not Messi, should claim the trophy

Either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo will be awarded the Ballon d Or on Thursday and, when comparing the two in 2017, the numbers mostly favour the Barcelona superstar.

For his club, Messi has scored more goals than Ronaldo (48 to 37), contributed more assists (14 to eight) and created more big chances (35 to 16).

But stats only count for so much. What really counts is how you perform in the biggest of moments and, in 2017, nobody has come close to touching Real Madrid s Ronaldo in that regard.

Messi did salvage a place at the World Cup for Argentina with a stunning hat-trick as they put Ecuador to the sword, but that rescue mission after a farcical qualifying campaign pales in comparison to what Ronaldo achieved in the month of May.

A hat-trick …

Will World Cup 2010 reignite Brazilian stars career?

Brazil’s 2-1 defeat of North Korea on Tuesday wasn’t particularly impressive.

However there was one player who seemed to be really up for the game and that player was Manchester City’s Robinho.

Some might say that he wasn’t playing against world-class opponents but he looked like he would make something happen every time he had the ball.

Form

The little attacker looked back to his best form. He was full of stepovers and little fancy flicks. He does the things that you expect from Brazilian players.

He adds something different than most of his teammates. Arguably only Kaka in the Brazilian team can claim to be anywhere near as technically gifted as the 26 year-old.

Disappointment

Robinho arrived in England as major star. H…

Alisson tells Liverpool to take inspiration from 2020-21 recovery

Alisson says Liverpool must rediscover their consistency to turn around their poor season, calling on the Reds to draw on the experience of recovering from a disappointing 2020-21 campaign.

Having won both domestic cups and finished as runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League last term, Jurgen Klopp s team have endured a dire start to this season.

Liverpool sit eight points adrift of the Premier League s top four ahead of Sunday s trip to Tottenham, and Alisson says Klopp s men must bounce back in the same manner they did two seasons ago – when they finished an injury-disrupted campaign in third.

We always have belief, Alisson told Sky Sports. We have the understanding that things are not going so well for us so far.

We have to be realis…

Dolphins vs Raiders Week 3 Picks and Predictions: Miami D Steps Up Without Tua

The Las Vegas Raiders, one of the biggest surprises of the 2021 season, take a 2-0 record into a Week 3 clash at home against the Miami Dolphins.

The Raiders have wins over Baltimore and Pittsburgh, putting up almost 800 total yards passing against two of the top defenses in the league. Enter the Dolphins, who are not only licking their wounds after a 35-0 shutout loss versus Buffalo in Week 2 but will play without QB Tua Tagovailoa. That has Miami getting 4.5 points on the road in Sin City.

Here are our free NFL picks and predictions for Dolphins at Raiders on September 26.

Cowboys vs Buccaneers Wild Card Round MNF Prop Bets: Evans Benefits From Pass-Heavy Attack

Monday night features America’s Team facing off against the GOAT with a spot in the Divisional Round on the line.

For the Dallas Cowboys, a one-and-done playoff run is unthinkable (and perhaps even the end of the Mike McCarthy era). Still, there’s something in the air with the aura of Tom Brady and this Tampa Bay Buccaneers team, who are lurking dangerously despite a turbulent year.

Whether you’re wagering on the Cowboys to show up and take care of business on the road or on another chapter in Brady’s playoff legacy, there’s a stack of tasty prop bets to weigh up for what feels like a tight, one-score game.

Here are my favorite NFL prop picks for Cowboys vs. Buccaneers on January 16.
